Shirley Kay Carter will celebrate her 80th birthday on Sat., May 24, 2014. She was born in Evanston, Wyoming, the only child of Helen and Lin Taylor.
Shirley spent her early childhood in Evanston, Wyoming, and developed a very close bound with her cousin Lela Jean Calder, whom she considers a sister. At a young age her parents moved to Henefer, where she attended school and graduated from North Summit High School.
On March 16, 1951, Shirley married the love of her life, Twain Carter, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they are active members of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities. Shirley has worked as a secretary in many positions, Farmers Insurance, Morgan City; served on the Morgan City Council; and retired from Wilkinson Construction. She enjoys her outings and friendships with her “Birthday Club Ladies,” where they meet once a month for a special event, and she is a member of the Morgan DUP. She loves to spend time with her family. She and Twain are avid sports fans supporting their great-grandkids in all events and all of Morgan High School sports programs. She loves spending time at their property in the Uinta Mountains.
