Clifton Jenkins was born 28 April, 1931 in the “South Davis Ward,” Utah...the only public building within seven miles was the ward house. He attended school in Roosevelt, Ballard, Naples and Myton. Jenkins left high school at the age of seventeen to join the Navy.
Jenkins spent 21 years in the Navy, traveling throughout the Pacific Ocean while assigned to six different shore stations and six different ships. During this time, he met and married his true love, Veretta O. Gomm, and had two sons, Dean and David.
In 1969, they retired from the Navy and settled in Morgan. At that time, Jenkins went to college and earned a Bachelor’s Degree and then Master Degree in Education. It was also during this time, that Jenkins served as Bishop of the Peterson Ward and they got their cute little red-headed daughter, Melissa.
Jenkins taught at Morgan Elementary for 20 years and retired for the second time in 1994. After that he and Veretta travelled until they grew tired of it. Since then, Jenkins has been doing a wide variety of things to serve the community and to serve his family.
Jenkins now has 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and he says that at this stage in his life, he likes to enjoy the two “R”s...”Relaxing” and “Reading”
We love you Dad and Grandpa! We all wish you a very happy 80th birthday. Love, Your Family...
