Morgan Trojan Bailey Farris was named Ms. Volleyball for 2011. She is humbled by this honor and is quick to recognize her coaches and teammates as helping her earn this Award.
Farris battled M.R.S.A. Staph Infection in the middle of this year’s state championship bid and missed three weeks of the season including a full week while in the hospital. It took a lot of work and determination to get back into shape for a title run at the state championships.
Her teammates and many friends rallied around her and her family believes that through all the prayers and support Bailey had a miracle recovery.
Watching her virtually take over the State Championship game against Snow Canyon after, where she had been just a month prior, brought tears to her parent’s eyes. Ms. Volleyball is selected from all high schools in the state from 1A to 5A. This is an amazing honor for Bailey, her teammates, coaches and for Morgan High School.
She finished the season with 405 Kills, 74 Solo Blocks, 111 Digs and 32 Aces. No matter how staggering her stats may appear, Farris knows that volleyball is a team sport and that she was a part of a special group of girls and coaches who all worked hard and accomplished their goal of winning the 3A State Volleyball Championship this year. Go Trojans!
