Verl and Deanna Mecham are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary with family on Aug. 9 at Maddox restaurant.
They were high school sweethearts and were married on Aug. 22, 1954, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake City temple. They have lived all their married life in Morgan.
Verl has always been and continues to be an active member in the community and the LDS church. He has served as bishop twice and stake president. Verl partnered with his brother Geary to form Mecham Brothers Construction. He was the heavy equipment operator for the company for 42 years before semi-retiring.
Deanna was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom while being very active in the community and the LDS church as well. She has been Relief Society president, a visiting teacher and ward chorister. She has been a member of the community choir for 15 years and has also served as a volunteer at McKay Dee hospital for over 17 years.
Together they served an LDS mission to Adam-ondi-Ahman, Missouri. Verl and Deanna enjoy spending time with their family at Mecham Meadows, four-wheeling, riding the snowcat, supporting their grandkids in their sports activities and “popcorn parties” every Sunday night.
They were blessed with five daughters, Pam (Mark) Huerta, Pauline, Sherrie (Mark) Rich, Sue (Stan) Stark and Melanie (Eric) Moore. They are the proud grandparents to 14 grandkids and 10 (soon to be 11) great grandkids.
Congratulations Dad, Mom, Grandpa, Grandma. We love you!
