Laurel Dean Rock, of Morgan, will be celebrating his 90th Birthday this year. He was born in Morgan, on May 6, 1921, to Laurel and Leatha Phillips Rock.
After graduating from Morgan High School in 1940, he met the love of his life, “that cute little redhead” from Garland Utah, Myrtle Gleason.
They were married April 5, 1942. Their vows were later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He has been a hard worker all his life, helping his father in the fields in Morgan and working at HAFB for 36 years, retiring in 1978.
He is active in the LDS church having held many church positions including a mission that he and Myrtle served in North Carolina. He was also very active in scouting for over 60 years.
Dean loves gardening and visitors often find him up to his elbows in dirt.
Honoring him at an open house are his children and their spouses; DeAnn and Rick Fresh, Linda and Craig Kendell, John and Susan Rock, Pete and Melanie Rock, and Julie and Bart Kendell.
He also proudly claims posterity of 21 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren and two more on the way.
Friends and family are invited to join his children in wishing Dean a Happy Birthday at an open house from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at the Highlands LDS meeting house on 5378 West Old Hwy Road in Mountain Green.
Light refreshments will be served. No gifts please.
