Melvin Wayne Spendlove of Morgan will celebrate his 80th birthday. Family and friends may attend an open house in his honor from 1 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 20 at Larry’s Spring Chicken Inn (upstairs) in Morgan.
He was born Nov. 17, 1930, to Melvin and Della Spendlove at home in Milton, and is the oldest brother to Dean Spendlove, Dale Spendlove and Kay Evans.
He married Deyon Eakins on Aug. 7, 1950, in Henefer. He and his wife just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family barbecue.
He attended Morgan High School, worked at Cream O’ Weber Dairy, drove truck and worked at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1993 with 26 years of federal service.
His eight children and their spouses are Shanna and Theron Schaefermeyer, Denzil and Susan Spendlove, Dawain and Jana Spendlove, Linda and David Butcher, Rodney Spendlove, Diana and Lavey Berman, Janeil Tebbs, and Lisa and Christian Griffith. He also has 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with one due in February 2011.
