On May 20th the fourth graders of both Morgan and Mountain Green Elementary schools went to the county fairgrounds. They learned about different animals, plants, soil and water, branding animals, and played a few games.
There was a petting zoo where they learned about Sara Clark’s calf, and the pig, sheep, goats, and llama of Jessica Larsen and her family. They also learned about the horse, Red, that Ethan Porter brought. Nate Buchanan, Isaac Cannon, and Ethan Richards played a stick and ball game with them. They also learned how to rope. There was a station where they got to learn about all the kinds of branding and the brands used in Morgan County.
We thank the county for letting us use the fairgrounds. Thanks also to the 4th graders who came and were eager to listen and also to their teachers who attended this event with their students. Thanks to the Farm Service Agency, James Barnhill, Matt Peterson, The Soils and Water Quality Agency, Heidi Morgan, and The Pork Producers for helping us put on this activity for the 4th graders. It was a success even though it rained for most of the day. Hopefully no one got a cold!
