This year is bound to be an exciting year politically as 12 local positions will be up for grabs.
Morgan County Attorney Jann Farris, Clerk Stacy Lafitte and Sheriff Blaine Breshears are all serving in positions that will open up this year. Each is a four-year term.
Six-year terms will be up for grabs for positions currently held by Morgan County Assessor Gwen Rich, Recorder Brenda Nelson and Treasurer Bonnie Thomson.
A majority of the Morgan County Council could change as four seats currently filled by Tina Kelley, Lyle Nelson, Austin Turner and Ned Mecham will be on the ballot.
School board members Bruce Galbraith and Mark Farmer also hold seats that will be on the November 2014 ballot.
Those wishing to become a candidate in any of the dozen races can file with at the county clerk’s office beginning March 14 until March 20 at 5 p.m.
