2012 Sterling Scholars - Cassandra Andersen ~ English

Morgan High School’s English Sterling Scholar for the year 2011-2012 is Cassandra Andersen, daughter of Lance and Janel Andersen! Cassandra is a student writer for the Morgan County News and has had a poem of hers selected for publication in Creative Communication’s book  A Celebration of Poets. 

Throughout her years at the high school she has been involved in FBLA, FCCLA, Debate, the Morgan Youth Service Interact Club, National Honor Society, the Morgan High School Choirs, the Welcoming Club, the Spanish Club, the girls’ tennis team, and the Ping Pong Club. 

Cassandra has had many leadership experiences and currently serves as Morgan Youth Service Interact Club Vice President, FBLA Secretary, FCCLA Historian, Ovation! Choir Alto Section Leader, Seminary Council Vice President, her church youth group’s president, and a National Honor Society Vice President. Cassandra’s favorite classes during high school include Interior Design with Mrs. Grose, Ovation Choir with Ms. May, AP Calculus with Mr. Floyd, and AP English with Mrs. Morrison because she had so much fun while learning a lot. 

Her most unforgettable experience at the high school was when she had the opportunity to play the part of Mrs. Potts in Morgan High’s musical Beauty & the Beast her junior year. Outside of school Cassandra enjoys singing, reading, clogging, and playing tennis. 

A service experience Cassandra will always remember was the time she pitched in with her extended family to help an aunt and uncle clean and remodel their yard and home. She plans to attend college at Utah Valley University.
